Kid Lit Review of “”Good Rosie!” By Kate DiCamillo

Rosie, the adorable companion of her owner George, sometimes gets lonely. George comes up with the idea of taking her to the dog park.

At first she is afraid and doesn’t like it. She doesn’t even know how to make friends. But then she does make some friends among the dogs and doesn’t want to leave. Even George makes friends at the park!

Artist Harry Bliss has drawn watercolors of dogs and people everyone will love in a kid-friendly paneled comics format.

Evaluation: Nobody dies at the end; all the dogs are happy. But I cried anyway. I loved it! (I cried at the end of the movie Black Panther too. Let’s face it: it doesn’t take much to make me cry; just somebody being happy or something turning out good for a change.)

This book would be perfect for any child fearful of new circumstances involving meeting new people.
