I have loved Elizabeth Eulberg’s other novels and I certainly intend to read this one too. I’d be curious to see what my teenage daughter thinks of these messages. If nothing else, the book is good for discussion about these issues.

Oh dear, the book’s title doesn’t match what you’ve said here at all. I’d like to think there’s a sort of sarcasm in it, but you’d have mentioned it if there was and really there’s no need for it, if the book worked. If you’re going to focus on personality and make it appear as though this book is going to be a friend to the reader, do so…

Wowee, it sounds like this book really struck a nerve. I am so tired of all the heroines being gorgeous babes with ugly, fat sidekicks so I had hope for this book.

Thanks for pointing out those issues-I didn’t really notice all of them and I’m embarrassed about that. This wasn’t my favorite book from this author although I did like some of her messages.

Oh my Lord. Well, on the good side, I love it when you get riled up like this. It gets my blood pumping. I’ve always enjoyed stories when an awkward teen blossoms and finds the beauty within herself. I will even go as far as when Ally Sheedy combs her hair and puts on lip gloss in The Breakfast Club and becomes cute. But there is a line that can easily be crossed. One thing that always bothered me a lot was the whole Grease thing. And I did watch that movie a thousand times…i was a Sandy after all. But the idea of a sweet girl having to smoke, wear black leather pants and act slutty in order to get her guy? That always bothered me. No wonder girls have such image issues.
