Book Description from HarperCollins
The Game On! Diet is not a diet. It’s a bold new approach to fitness that turns the latest, smartest, most successful health science into a fun, fierce, and exhilarating game. Developed by Az Ferguson, to help Grey’s Anatomy writer Krista Vernoff shed forty pounds of postpregnancy weight, it is the ideal program for busy people who should be working out but have a thousand good excuses not to.
Az keeps you motivated and Krista keeps you laughing as they show you how to organize opposing teams, set goals, and compete to earn points for daily exercise, healthy meal plans, and positive lifestyle changes. With The Game On! Diet, the process of losing weight, for the first time ever, is actually fun. After all, what’s better than a bikini body . . . and bragging rights?
Get out there and lose . . . to win! Game on!
Blogger Participation
A number of book bloggers have formed teams going by such improbable names as Twinkies, HoHos, and DingDongs in order to participate in this competition for the joint benefit of ourselves and our readers. (Well, not necessarily the latter group who will be exposed to periodic updates as we moan and wail about the difficulties of behaving in order to improve our lives.)
The idea of working as a team is that you have the added incentive not to let your teammates down. Additionally, you have a built-in support group.
We are not only supposed to give up unhealthy foods, but load up on water, participate in exercise, get enough sleep, and give up bad habits. In particular, the authors of this book excoriate the evil effects of all sodas (including diet) and all alcoholic beverages. (Good grief, you may ask, what’s the point of moving away from home if you have to obey these sorts of rules?!!!)
We are to try this for a month, after which time presumably we shall all be so fit and happy we will want to continue forever. Please feel free to check up on fellow participants at the following blogs:

As a lovely coincidence, I recently received this award from Wisteria at Bookworms Dinner:

“Blogs that receive the Let’s Be Friends Award are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to any other bloggers you choose.”
I extend this award to my fellow game-on-sters, whether they be Twinkies or Ding Dongs or HoHos; their blogs show them to be Hostesses with the Mostest Incentive around, and I wish them all (and me!) the best of luck!

You go girl!!! This is going to be hard work, but so much fun! From one Ding-Dong to another! ;)
Good luck on the diet and congratulations on your award!
A Twinkie here … thanks for the award. I give you a nice piece of chocolate cake! (Wink Wink). Just going around checking out all the posts. I think the team element is going to make this work for me. I’ve struggled to lose weight on my own but already I can tell this will be different. Good luck … but of course, not too much. GAME ON!
Go Jill go! Welcome aboard and Game On!
Good luck to you on this non diet. I’ll be your cheerleader so keep me updated.
yay Ding-dongs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice job on the pizza for Dawn. I followed up with a cheesecake, so I think we’re on track. :-D
Virtual pizza and cheesecake was delicious … thanks for thinking of me!
It’s Day 3 (sorry to have been late on the blog … i’ve been enjoying the tweets!), so far, so good!
You didn’t mention what you’re doing for transformation and new habit; how is that aspect going for you?
Game on!
