The lovely Argeninian singer Josefina Scagione was selected by 91-year-old director Arthur Laurents to play Maria for his upcoming Broadway revival of “West Side Story.” He discovered her on youtube! He said, “She has this incredible, ineffable something,” the director says. “She’s trained as an opera singer, she’s trained as a ballet dancer and she’s trained as an actress. It’s unbelievable in somebody that young.”
