Sarkozy Voodoo Doll Ruled Freedom of Expression

On Friday, a French appeals court ruled that a Sarkozy voodoo doll can remain on sale, but should be sold with a warning that “sticking needles into the doll affronts Sarkozy’s dignity.”

The distributor of the dolls, K&B Editions, must distribute the notice with new shipments of dolls. Its initial shipment of 20,000 sold out in three weeks. New dolls, destined to be delivered in mid-December, will have the court-ordered label.
